Nitrous

Nitrous gives your vehicle a powerful, risky speed boost — but getting the most out of it means mastering the purge/burst system, not just holding a button.

Installing a Nitrous Kit

Nitrous kits are installed through the tuner shop's Tuning Bay menu. Select a kit size from 1lb to 12lb — larger kits hold more shots (10 shots per lb) but cost more. Upgrading an existing kit to a larger size only charges the difference in price.

Once purchased, a short installation sequence plays at the vehicle — the hood opens, the kit is carried and fitted, and the kit becomes active once complete. A freshly installed kit starts empty and needs to be filled with NOS bottles before it can be used.

Burst Kits

Every nitrous kit comes with a stock burst kit that allows up to 5 seconds of purge or burst before extra risk kicks in. Burst kits can be upgraded through the same Tuning Bay menu, raising that threshold to 7, 10, or 13 seconds — giving more room to build efficiency and hold a longer burst.

Refilling Shots

Nitrous kits run on shots (10 per lb). There are two ways to keep a kit topped up:

• Full bottles (NOS 10-Shots) — use the item while seated as the driver, stationary, to add shots directly to the kit.

• Empty bottles (NOS Empty) — can't be used directly. Bring them to a NOS refill station (marked on the map for tuners) and exchange them for full bottles.

Both bottle types can be crafted at a tuner shop's workbench, or purchased through the shop supplier.

Using Nitrous — Purge & Burst

Nitrous isn't just "hold a button and go fast." It's built around a risk/reward loop:

Purge (default key: Right Ctrl) — while stationary, hold purge to build up efficiency. The longer you hold it (up to your burst kit's threshold), the more efficiency you earn, up to 100%. Releasing purge opens an efficiency window — your burst will draw on whatever efficiency you built, for a limited time.

Burst (default key: Left Shift) — while driving, hold burst to apply a torque boost. The strength of the boost scales with your current efficiency:

• Purged first, used within the window — strongest, safest boost

• Burst with no purge at all — weak boost, and a high chance of engine damage

• Burst after your efficiency window has expired — reduced efficiency, moderate damage risk

• Held past your burst kit's threshold — very high chance of engine damage, regardless of efficiency

Each second of burst held consumes one shot. After releasing, a cooldown begins equal to how long you held it — so you can't just spam burst repeatedly.

Gas Leaks

If you purge again during the post-window cooldown before a new efficiency cycle can start, you're gambling — there's a chance of a gas leak, which vents a portion of your shots and produces a visible steam effect. Wait out the cooldown to purge safely again.

Purge Dye

Want your purge smoke a different color than the default white? Use a NOS Purge Dye item at the vehicle's engine bay to permanently recolor the purge effect for that vehicle.

Engine Health

Nitrous requires a minimum engine health to activate at all — a badly damaged engine won't let you burst or purge until it's repaired.
